Washington Post announces: “We lied for a hundred years.”

There is deep context for every political story in the news. Of course, the networks and major newspapers don’t explore it.

How do you cover “quantitative easing” (printing endless money) unless you discuss what the Federal Reserve is and isn’t? You can’t. You get a body with its head chopped off. You get severely truncated information.

And this describes what the news does and what politicians do. They omit context. From A to Z. They chop heads.

The effect? A trance.

A trance IS what happens when the mind enters the dead zone where information doesn’t have context.

Watching and listening to news and political statements is entering a virtual bubble. The questioning mind piles up queries until it goes on overload and surrenders.

Because there is no context.

It’s like walking into a room where a group of strangers is discussing a story in midstream. You play catch-up. You try to fill in the blanks. But you’re lost.

Tech blather has been circulating, since Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, bought the Washington Post (WaPo) at a fire sale. Jeff Genius says he will invent new ways to transmit the news to “people on the go” and make the Post a smashing success. (See Wired, “How Jeff Bezos Will Reinvent Legacy News Media,” by Puneet Mehta.)

The new Washington Post. Mobile devices. Multiple platforms. Digital, taking over from print. Ads customized to fit readers’ interests (profiling). News stories customized to fit readers’ interests (more profiling).

I can see it now. John Smith spends every waking hour watching porn. So HIS Washington Post will sport a page-one headline: 20TH CENTURY PORN RETROSPECTIVE EXCITES FILMGOERS.

Just what we need. Perfect.

A Democratic voter in Chicago will get a different page-one headline: OBAMA PROMISES NEW PROGRAMS FOR CRIME PREVENTION.

Streamlined media. Market-driven. More absurd than ever. A reflexive bubble inside which the reader can be entertained. Your own search engine without the need to search.

Another way of delivering content without context.

The Washington Post will become an updated corpse burying the old corpse of the paper. Here’s my headline: WAPO PIG WITH LIPSTICK LAYS TO REST WAPO PIG WITHOUT LIPSTICK.

There should be Pulitzer Prizes for media outlets based on stories they avoided and covered via limited hangout.

“This year, the Committee awards a Pulitzer for Omission and Limited Hangout to the Washington Post for its ‘coverage’ of SSRI antidepressants pushing children into committing suicide and murder all across America. What coverage? Zero coverage. Exactly. Congratulations.”

The Matrix Revealed

I’m looking forward to a Washington Post that runs on mobile devices, with 5000 different page-one headlines every day, beamed at profiled readers.

Yes, I see a great future for the Washington Post.

I hope someone of Jeff Bezos’ persuasion ends up owning the NY Times and the LA Times, too, and turns them into advertising giants. Forget news content, except as pauses between commercials.

It’s what these papers deserve. They’re poseurs who’ve pretended to provide the real news for decades.

That’s why turning major media outlets into mobile-device “on the go” advertising platforms, with all their users profiled, is a logical conclusion to the history of these organizations.

Sure the Washington Post is a peace of crap. But whose fault is it?

Who are the stupid buyers of Mobile devices? Who really needs them?
All they do is frying your brain, spy on you, harass you and make you irrelevant. You become a Zombie unable to think for yourself.

The other day, a friend of mine picked me up to go to a jazz festival up north. He had a GPS in his car. Good grief! That stupid voice, every minute, telling you to turn left, then right 500 feet ahead, etc.. like if we were too stupid to find our way ourselves. I couldn’t stand it anymore. I said: Shut her up or I’m jumping out of the car…lol

I look at all the mindless trendy kids with their smart phone and tablets, texting everywhere they go, even when crossing a busy intersection. I feel so sorry for these fools.

I have a plugged in phone in the wall, with no answering machine, no waiting calls and no device to show the caller’s number. If you phone me while I am on the phone or if I’m not at home, I will not know that you phoned me. I figure that if it is important, people will phone back. If it’s not important, then who cares? Same for the computer, it’s plugged into the wall and no smart meters for me either.

Why pay for all that crap that enriches the big corporations and turn you into an android. People today, can’t even add, subtract, divide and multiply numbers anymore without their slave gadgets. Get rid of all these things. This new technology is to turn you into a powerless obedient slave… and to harm you physically at the same time.

    Wake-up people!

All Jeff ‘Wapo’ Bezos did was let the cat out of the bag. I have suspected smcoooogle of doing it for year.
Now they have public stayed they wish to be the ministry of truth.

    @ Q…
    What!
Are you a crazy woman…no answering machine.
Jezus H Baloney and yo have a plug in the wall phone.
Good grief opera writer I suppose it’s a dial phone.
Dam talking cars…my dog talks to me 😨

    • From Québec says:

Yep! Just like Waylon Jennings sings:
” I’ve always been crazy but it’s kept me from going insane”.

Speaking of answering machines, doesn’t it bother you when you phone someone and the machine says: “Sorry, I cannot take your call right now”, like if we couldn’t figure this out ourselves… “leave me a message and I’ll phone you as soon as possible”, sure, like I will be waiting for your call, are you kidding me?

“Dam talking cars”. Look at was Elvis Gratton did to his new limousine talking car:

Elvis Gratton… Scènes de la limousine !
