The artist

The artist dispenses with ordinary reality like a man taking off his hat. It’s an obvious action. It makes no difference how many people want the hat to sit on the head. The artist goes his own way.

He invents what never was, what never would exist if he weren’t there.

Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment wasn’t sitting in some cosmic library waiting to be written. There are people who actually believe the novel was already there, but it isn’t true.

The artist is always dreaming up other worlds.

He creates new frequencies, new rhythms, new situations, new people, in profusion.

Whether he is sitting on top of a mountain of his own imagination or swimming in the depths of undersea caverns of his own invented time, he proliferates. He builds space and time and then sometimes destroys them. He takes pieces of rubble and assembles them into new entities.

He robs history if he decides to, and then he transforms it. He holds universes in his hand, and then he makes them disappear.

The artist has always been outside society. It makes no decisive impression on him, because it is founded on rules of organization. The artist shows people, if they can see it, how foolish organizations are, because he creates something beyond The Group.

He is leading edge of consciousness, beyond the clap-trap of religions and governments and spiritual systems and homilies. He knows systems are closed, and he is dealing in what is open.

The sun comes up and the sun goes down, but the artist can make the sun appear and disappear a hundred times in one day, if he wants to.

While everyone else is trying to manufacture connections to the group, under the banner of a false sense of community, the artist is going in the opposite direction.

Philip K Dick: “Insanity—to have to construct a picture of one’s life, by making inquiries of others.”

Exit From the Matrix

Imagination is a cardinal virtue. It has no boundaries. It has no ironclad tradition. It doesn’t ask for favors.

The real revolution, whether it takes a hundred years or ten thousand years, will consist of artists holding nothing back. And everyone will be an artist.

And then, as a sub-factor, a decidedly minor factor, society will be formed around artists.

Society will obviously look nothing like what it looked like before. Comparing that day, that future to the present will be like comparing an old machine to a billion paintings.

Holding on to slogans of the past will be futile—as if anyone would be even faintly interested in such a foolish preoccupation.

The future will be the future of art.

Your story brings to my mind the adventures of Milarepa.
Now Milarepa is the classic underdog, along with bad Uncle and Aunty, who steal Milarepa’s dead fathers fortune and enthrall his mother as house-maid and cook.
Through the sacrifice of Milarepa’s mother, he (Milarepa), leaves his Uncle’s house to go and live, and be taught by a wise and powerful sorcerer. Now M gets a mojo, nows he has more power, he can cross great distances very fast, in meer days, he can call on the weather. He has powerful magic and he has been taught by the best that money can buy.
But, after bring down a powerful hail-storm, ruining his village, killing 35 and almost killing his oh so “they had it comin, bad uncle and Aunty” Milarepa decides to travel a truer path and finds a great master, a guru; is walled up in a cave to visualize and imagine. Which he gains great personel power from… and discover his true power?…you got it, its his imagination. He has discovered that he has defected from this true self, and because of the bad propaganda of aunty and bad uncle and all their cronies…bastards. M finds his way and masters himself. He finds enlightenment.

Milarepa drink a lot of green nettle tea, turning his skin green thusly becoming the verde Bodhisattva. One of the most popular of demigods of Bonpo…and Buddhism.

Incidently nettle tea is very nutritious, holding many minerals and vitamins. It can be used to treat a bad prostate, it is great for skin problems, the tea is high in silica which can be used as a purge of heavy metals.
    I digress…scusami!

Because of the propaganda of such a large reality, a global level of reality machine, we as creators seem paltry and small to the greater, suround sound, mega cinoplasmic confabulation of say utterly ridiculous artsy propaganda of…Hollyrude. The little that we create in the beginning, seems so amateurish and small compared to the great illusion factories.
So many collaborators at work in that theatre of reality. It is through persistent dedication to the art, any art, everything and anything can be art; art can be art, that we begin to think in greater and greater scope. We rise to a higher consciousness. More expansive space is created as we add more and more to what is desired.

I until recently could not quite understand why when I picked up a drawing instrument after neglecting it for periods of time, sometimes long periods, that I could go back into the same place I left off…when it took me so many years to acquire and build that space, my signature, my style, a quality, a sureness.
I now understand that all those years of study resulted in a vast imagined place that I draw energy from. It is there still, I have been there recently. Its a little dusty the garbage hasnt been taken out , but its still there. Still as big.
The place that feeds me and my work.

It is never too late to start… space imagined by artists expands very quickly at first, it is because most neglect that part of themselves for such a long.l time.

Artists now it seems are collected by the collective, they are zoo animals for the rich. Presents for their friends to open. They are the cannon fodder to the great illusion.

“The greatest crimes in the world are not committed by people breaking the rules but by people following the rules. It’s people who follow orders that drop bombs and massacre villages.”  -Banksy
